Profile

Pablo Adib Tapie Amione, who battles online under the username amione, is a FIDE Master with a very clear mission: keep the clock moving, keep the pieces flying, and never stop pressing. Since his first games in late 2013, he has been a fixture of the live chess lobby, especially in the Blitz pool, if such a pool exists, he probably lives there.

His Sicilian Defense is sharp, his Caro-Kann Defense is stubborn, and his taste for the offbeat Amar Gambit is the sort of thing opponents bring up in therapy. He has seen both a 14 game winning streak and an 11 game losing streak, and somehow still comes back for another rematch.

The Blitz Brain

Most players pick a time control; Amione picked speed. His focus is Blitz, and the numbers agree: nearly 1,500 rated Blitz games in the record, interrupted by occasional Bullet binges that pushed his peak close to 2801 (2026-07-22) in the sprint format.

At heart he is also an endgame animal. About 80% of his games reach an endgame, and almost 85% of his losing positions end up becoming winning ones. He rarely resigns early, which is a nice way of saying he is either dangerously calm or enjoys drama.

Openings and Chaos

Openings with him are never boring. The Amar Gambit shows up in a surprising number of his games, and the Amazon Attack also appears to be a personal favorite. His winning rate in the closed versions of the Sicilian Defense is consistently solid, and he treats each opponent like a fresh experiment.

The stats will eventually include the word "Rhamphorhynchus" in an opening name, which somehow says everything: he plays on a board where anything can happen, and he often makes it happen.

Friends, Rivals and Rematches

The most familiar face in his guest list is cockroachdolly, with whom he has traded blows on more than 40 occasions. Also earning a place in the room is grandemas, a durable opponent. And every now and then, David Arutinian helps keep his record humbled, but Pablo still finds a way to queue right because they will likely play again.

The result: about 84.5% of all losses are followed by a win later in the same day. So the story writes itself; Pablo has yet to be defeated by a time stamp.
