Quick Snapshot
• Personal best so far:
• Your games show a strong fighting spirit – you win ~50 % of the time as Black and slightly more as White.
• Activity trends:
Your Consistent Strengths
- Piece Activity. You rarely leave pieces undeveloped. In your win vs mtturtle you completed development and seized the open c-file (see PGN below).
- Tactical Awareness. Forks such as 9.Nxd5! (same game) and the Greek-Gift style 13.Bxh6!! against Leo-LopezYT show you spot forcing shots.
- Calm under attack. In several Bird & French games you allowed the opponent to lash out, then consolidated and won the endgame.
Biggest Improvement Targets
- Opening discipline. Some early queen adventures (e.g. 4…Qg5 in your loss to fahmimyanuar) leave you vulnerable.
• Stick to three opening rules: develop, control centre, castle.
• Build a compact repertoire: one line vs 1.e4 (e.g. Classical French), one vs 1.d4 (e.g. Queen’s Gambit Declined). - Time management. Four recent losses were on the clock. Train with 5 + 5 games or set yourself a rule: be out of the opening with ≥ 7:30 on the clock. Use opponent’s think-time to plan.
- Conversion technique. When up material you sometimes keep trading blows instead of simplifying. Practise the “two-step”: (a) exchange pieces not pawns, (b) push passed pawns. Review the Albin counter-gambit loss where an extra pawn became irrelevant.
- Endgame fundamentals. In several K+P endings you missed quicker wins or stalemate tricks. Refresh opposition, outside passer and triangulation ideas – see opposition.
Concrete Training Plan (4 weeks)
| Day | Task |
|---|---|
| Mon / Wed | 30 min tactics (Chess.com Puzzle Rush + unrated puzzles). Focus on forks and counter-shots (search tag zwischenzug). |
| Tue | Analyse one of your losses without an engine first, then with it. Write one lesson in a notebook. |
| Thu | Study 10 moves deep in your chosen openings. Create a one-page cheat-sheet. |
| Fri | Play 3 rapid games 10 + 5. Goal: finish each opening with ≥ 70 % time left. |
| Sat | Endgame drill: 15 random K+P, R+P studies (lichess trainer or board). |
| Sun | Rest or casual 15 + 10 game; annotate interesting moments. |
