Hi George Mihaita 🇺🇦 – Let’s build on your recent progress!
1. Opening Play – tidy up those f-pawns
Your games (both as White and Black) frequently start with early f-pawn moves (f3 / …f6). While they can catch beginners off-guard, they:
- Leave your king exposed (the e1–h4 or e8–h5 diagonal becomes vulnerable).
- Delay developing minor pieces and castling.
- Give opponents easy targets for checks like …
Qh4+or …Qh5+.
Short-term goal: play the first five moves by following classical principles: occupy the centre (e4/d4), develop knights before bishops, and castle. Try this White move order:
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4. c3 Nf6 5. d4
As Black against 1.e4, experiment with:
1... e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 (Spanish)
or the rock-solid Caro-Kann (1.e4 c6).
2. Time Management – pace your clock
Your most recent loss vs josecarlos021013 was winning materially, yet you flagged on move 77. Two ideas:
- Benchmarks. In a 10-min game aim to have ≥5 min left after move 20 and ≥2 min after move 35.
- Practice “easy-move” drills. Play some 1-minute puzzles or bullet games with the sole goal of moving fast without major blunders. It trains muscle memory for obvious recaptures and checks.
3. Tactical Alertness – spot the cheapos before they hit
Both sides are throwing punches early. To convert wild positions into wins, sharpen your tactics:
- 10 daily puzzles – focus on forks, pins, back-rank mates.
- After each game, switch on the “key moments” computer analysis and replay every blunder until you can say out loud what went wrong.
4. Endgame Basics
Once queens come off, default to three golden rules:
- Activate the king immediately.
- Pass pawns first – create an outside passed pawn if you can.
- Rooks belong behind passed pawns (yours or the opponent’s).
Review the final phase of the josecarlos game – you could have put your rook behind their a-pawn to hold.
5. A model victory to copy
Look back at the clean finish in your win vs lessssmots. You developed, won material, then chased the king:
6. Track your improvements

7. Next-week action plan
- Play 10 games using the recommended opening lines without moving the
f-pawn early. - Solve 70 tactics (10 per day).
- Analyse every loss for at least 5 minutes.
Keep the passion, tidy the fundamentals, and your rating will break through the 600-mark soon. Good luck, and enjoy the journey!
