Although his lifelong happy place appears to be Blitz, he has done most of his digging in Rapid, turning it from a scrappy proving ground into a serious gold vein by the middle of 2026.
Rapid has been his main elevator, climbing steadily before reaching a splendid high point in 2026. The Blitz chart is just as miner-like: jagged, rocky, and always trending upward after a few deep dips.
Opening Repertoire: E4 First, Questions Later
Almost every GrandMiner game starts with 1.e4. That is the most consistent part of his identity. As White and as Black he happily visits the Scandinavian Defense, the Four Knights Game, and the Caro-Kann Defense. In Blitz the Scandinavian Defense is a favorite: his 64.71% win rate there is among his best repeated lines.
The Caro-Kann Defense is less friendly in bullet, where the miner gets flattened at a 21.05% clip. Still, the sample shows a player who commits to a classic, open repertoire and usually refuses to switch to quiet positions.
The Nemesis and the Victim
