Hi pirotzoki77 – personalised coaching report

Over the last few sessions you have stabilised around the 1650-1700 mark in 10-minute live games. Your preferred defences (Modern/KID structures and the Scandinavian) appear in nearly every Black game, while with White you use a double-fianchetto set-up (g3, Bg2, b3, Bb2). Below you will find a quick snapshot of your results, followed by targeted feedback.

What you are doing well

  • End-game conversion. In your win against ahmedali2211 you calmly escorted the e-pawn to promotion and converted the rook ending with precise technique.
  • Clock management. You consistently finish games with 1-3 minutes left, giving you time to calculate when the position becomes tactical.
  • Strategic plans in the Modern. Pawn storms with …h6/…g5 and piece manoeuvres like …Kh7–…g7–…f5 show good understanding of kingside play.

Immediate improvement targets

1. Earlier central counter-play in the Modern/KID

Two recent losses (e.g. to armen_gev) came from delaying the central breaks …e5 or …c5. By move 15 you were cramped and White was already pushing c5.

• Aim to prepare …e5 with …Re8, …Nf6–g4 and only then …e5.
• Alternatively adopt the Pirc move-order (…c6 > …e5) to hit the centre sooner.

2. Over-ambitious queen forays with White

Fast queen moves (Qh5/Qh4/Qf3) in the Sicilian and Scandinavian Advance cost time and sometimes material (see your game v eizus67). Develop pieces first, castle, then look for Qh5 ideas when you already threaten Bd3xh7+ or Ng5.

3. Tactical alertness around your own king

In the loss to kmb-aim your kingside remained dark-square weak after …h6/…g5. A 5-minute daily tactics routine (drilling themes like back-rank mates and removing the defender tactics) will yield quick rating points.

4. Sharpen the Scandinavian repertoire

You are using the old 2…d4 line, giving White space and an easy plan with c3–d4. Switch to the modern main line 2…Nf6; it keeps pieces on the board and avoids the passive …d4 pawn structure you struggled with.

Model game to study

Replay your cleanest recent win and ask “where could Black have equalised?” – a great way to test your objectivity.

Drill position from a recent loss

Try to find the saving resource for Black in the diagram before looking at the engine; it will improve your defensive skills.

Long-term study plan

  1. Opening depth: Build a 15-move “main line” file for each colour in Lichess/Chessable. Revisit after every session.
  2. Middlegame patterns: Work through 50 examples of the minority attack and the e5 break in the KID.
  3. End-game refinement: You already convert extra material well – now add opposite-coloured bishop studies to your routine.

Finally, here is your peak rating to date: 1760 (2025-06-09). Let’s aim to push that above 1800 in the next two months!

Good luck with your training – I look forward to seeing your progress.
