Hi Rollim! 👍 Here is your personalized post-game feedback.

1. What you’re already doing well

  • Tactical eye – You spot forks and loose pieces quickly (e.g. 10.Nxe5! in your latest win and the cute 11.Qxh7# miniature). Keep sharpening that instinct with daily puzzle reps.
  • Initiative minded – You rarely play passive moves. Even in losses you tried …Qxh2+, …Qxf4+ etc. This fighting spirit is a big asset at your rating.
  • Time management – In all recent 10-minute games you kept 6-8 minutes on the clock deep into the middlegame. Good pacing!

2. Biggest improvement themes

  1. Early-queen syndrome
Five of your last six losses started with 3–6 queen moves. Each extra queen hop costs tempi, leaves pieces undeveloped, and invites tactics against your king.
Action plan: new rule for the next 30 games – “No queen move before move 7 unless it wins material outright.” Track it in your notes and you will feel the difference.
  2. King safety comes first
Example: versus bdikboy you grabbed pawns with the queen while your king sat on e8 and the f-pawn marched, allowing Qe8#. Get castled by move 10 in 90 % of your games.
  3. Develop all the pieces before attacking
Look at the diagram position of your loss to Tasib008: after 17…Qg4?! your queenside pieces were still on their original squares while White’s army was ready. Remember “Knights, bishops, castle, THEN queen roams.”
  4. Opening choice
With Black you often play 2…Bc5 and a quick …Qh4. Fun but dubious. For a sound backbone add one classical line:
    • Against 1.e4 – try the Italian Two Knights or Scandinavian 2…Nf6 so you can develop smoothly and still reach tactical middlegames.
    • Against 1.d4 – a simple setup like …d5, …e6, …Nf6, …Be7 will already score better than the current mix-and-match.

3. Mini study plan (4 weeks)

DayFocusTime
Mon / Wed / Fri15 tactic puzzles + annotate one of your own games (even a win!)25 min
TueWatch 10-min video on the opening you’ll use that week10 min
ThuPlay out 5 basic endings vs engine: K+P, K+R, etc.20 min
Sat or SunOne longer (15 | 10) game with full post-mortem45 min

4. Quick tactical quiz from your own games

Position comes from your loss vs bdikboy after 7…Qe4. White just played 8.c3. What is Black’s cleanest way to keep the extra material and finish development? (Answer hidden below – think first!)

Answer 8…Be7! (retreat consolidating the queen, preparing …0-0 and still guarding g5). The game move 8…Qxh1+ dragged the queen farther offside and lost.

5. Keep an eye on your progress

Peak Rapid rating so far: 769 (2023-08-09) – let’s aim to beat it by the end of the study plan.

Enjoy the journey, Rollim! Next time you feel tempted by an early pawn grab, remember: pieces first, queen later. See you on the board.
