Personalised feedback for sdah24
Your current peak rapid rating is 822 (2025-04-21). The games you recently played give a clear picture of your strengths and the specific adjustments that will help you climb toward 800-900 and beyond.
What you already do well
- Tactical eyesight. You spot basic mating patterns quickly (e.g. ) and punish early queen sorties from opponents (khanifa_2024 resigned on move 3!).
- Willingness to attack. The h-pawn pushes with Black show healthy fighting spirit and make many opponents uncomfortable.
- Converting large material leads. In the 68-move win vs bard-gyang you stayed patient and avoided stalemate despite multiple queen promotions.
Priority areas for improvement
-
Develop before you storm.
Most of your losses start with an early queen move or pawn thrust that ignores the centre and delays castling.
Example: – after trading queens you had three undeveloped pieces and were mated on the back rank.
Action: For the next 20 games, set a personal rule: No queen moves and no pawn moves outside the c-, d-, e-files until your minor pieces and king are safe. -
Piece coordination.
Re-moving the same piece (♞b8-c6-a5-b7…) and parking rooks on a8/h8 keeps them out of the game. Think “all pieces play”.
Action: After move 10 in any game, pause and ask, “Which of my pieces is not helping yet?” Activate it on the next two moves. -
Basic endgames.
You won the long queen endgame, but there were faster mates and you allowed perpetual-check chances.
Action: Spend 10-15 min/day on king-&-pawn vs king drills; learn the idea of the opposition and “square of the pawn”. -
Opening structure.
Relying on Philidor/Pirc structures with …Bg4/…h5 is fun but risky. A solid alternative will give you variety.
Action: Learn a 4-move “starter kit”:- With White: Italian Game (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5).
- With Black: Classical Pirc (1.e4 d6 2.d4 ♞f6 3.Nc3 g6 4.Nf3 ♝g7 5.Be2 O-O).
Training plan (4-week outline)
| Week | Main focus | Daily task (≃25 min) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Opening discipline | Play 3 rapid games and review move 1-10: did you follow principles? |
| 2 | Tactics | 30 theme puzzles (forks, pins, skewers). Track accuracy vs time. |
| 3 | Endgames | Study one new position from King + pawn endings and play it vs engine until you win twice. |
| 4 | Game review | Self-annotate last 10 games, marking “Critical moment” and “Missed chance”. |
Useful references
- Opening principles: tempo, development, centre, king-safety.
- Why back-rank mates happen: weak dark-square control & rook activity (
...Rd8in the loss vs darkgamer2239 came too late). - Endgame key words: opposition, square of the pawn, shouldering.
