Coach Chesswick
Hi someblunderideas! Here’s personalised feedback based on your most recent games.
Your current profile snapshot
- Peak blitz rating:
- Activity overview:
1. What you’re doing well
- Initiative seeker. In several wins you willingly sacrifice or give pawns (e.g. 12.Nd5! vs jackjackson1992) to keep pressure. That fighting spirit is excellent.
- Conversion when ahead. Your mating finish 30…Rf1# demonstrates good follow-through once you seize control.
- Piece activity awareness. In the Caro-Kann win vs thorbenantor you rerouted knights and rooks smoothly to invade the 2nd rank.
2. Recurring trouble spots
-
Early pawn stabs with little backup.
Moves likef3andc3on moves 2-3 appear in both your wins and losses. When they work you grab space; when they fail your structure collapses.
Example: in the loss vs jtbalu the premature 3.f3 weakened the dark squares and Black exploited them with …Bg5/…Ne3/…Nh4.
📌 Consider delaying those pawns until your king is castled and minor pieces are developed. -
Forgetting the opponent’s counter-play.
In the same game you allowed the shot 22…Nxd4! followed by 23…Nb3+ and your queen side fell apart. When you have the initiative, force yourself to ask “What is my opponent threatening?” every move. -
Time management.
Three of the last five losses were on time while still roughly equal. You often enter complicated positions with <10 seconds. Train a habit of reaching move 15 with ≥60 seconds by playing simpler developing moves faster.
3. Opening map
| You play | Score | Quick thought |
|---|---|---|
| White: 1.e4 e6 2.c3 / 1.e4 e5 2.c3 | Mixed | The early c3 works in blitz but gives Black an easy …d5 break. Try a main-line French Tarrasch for structure practice. |
| Black: …c6/…d5 setups (Caro-Kann & Slav-hybrids) | Good | Keep them; just learn one crisp thematic break (…c5 or …e5) in each. |
| Black vs 1.e4: Sicilian Alapin with …e6 …d6 | Solid | Your win vs 2Enchant2 shows you know the plans. Add the typical break …f6/ …f5 when centre is closed. |
4. Concrete illustration
Critical moment from the loss to jtbalu – you can replay and analyse:
Ask yourself after 21…Bxb2: “What forcing moves does Black have?” and you’ll spot …Nxd4! and avoid the tactic.
5. Training menu for the next two weeks
- Daily: 15 tactical puzzles focused on intermediate moves (zwischenzug) zwischenzug.
- Opening sprint: Build a 10-move main-line French-Tarrasch repertoire for White. Play it in at least 10 blitz games.
- Endgame drill: Rook + minor-piece vs rook endings (you lost one on time while equal).
- Clock discipline: Play three 5|5 games where you must have ≥2 minutes left by move 20; resign if not. This forces quicker early decisions.
6. Motivation boost
“When you see a good move, look for a better one—but keep an eye on your clock.”
Keep enjoying the game and feel free to send me positions you struggle with. Happy studying!
