What you already do well

  • Dynamic openings. You willingly enter sharp Benko, Alekhine and Sicilian lines, creating imbalances from move 1.
  • Tactical awareness. Combos such as 16.Nxf7!! against speed_mamba show good calculation and the courage to sack material for initiative.
  • Piece activity over material. In the recent Benko win you returned the pawn, dominated the dark squares and converted confidently.
  • Psychological resilience. After setbacks you bounce back quickly with convincing wins – an underrated skill.

Biggest growth opportunities (next 4–6 weeks)

  1. Stabilise critical opening lines.
Losses versus 2200+ players exposed gaps in the King’s Indian Fianchetto and Sveshnikov. Build a compact repertoire file covering: (a) safe replies to 8.Ne1 in the KID and (b) antidotes to 9.Nd5 in the Sveshnikov.
  2. Clock management.
Your average time per move drops sharply after move 20, leading to oversights (e.g. 14…Qxh1?? vs streetlightdust). • Target drill: play 10-min games where you keep ≥30 s on the clock every 5 moves.
  3. Endgame technique.
Several promising positions fizzled out once queens came off. Spend two sessions a week on rook-and-pawn endings, starting with the Lucena, Philidor and the concept of opposition.
  4. Defensive accuracy.
When the initiative shifts you sometimes continue attacking instead of consolidating (23…e5? vs Gur Mittelman). Practise “only-move” defensive puzzles to sharpen survival instincts.

Deep-dive review

Illustrative win – Benko Gambit Accepted (White)

You neutralised Black’s queenside pressure, fixed the kingside with 25.h4! and finished with precise calculation.

Instructive loss – King’s Indian Fianchetto (Black)

After 14…Nxd4 you were a pawn up, but 20…Bd5?! let White seize the d-file. Key repair ideas:

  • Exchange one pair of rooks earlier to ease the pressure.
  • When ahead in material, complete development before grabbing more pawns.

Suggested weekly routine

  • 3 × 20 min tactic drills (rating 2200-2600).
  • 2 × 30 min endgame study (rook + pawn).
  • Play 10 rapid games applying the “≥30 s per 5 moves” rule; self-annotate two of them, then check with an engine.
  • Review one GM game in each of your main openings every week.

Motivation corner

Your attacking flair is your signature weapon—polish the supporting technique and the next rating plateau will come naturally. Keep the passion burning and enjoy the journey!
