Tereza Rodshtein, Woman Grandmaster (WGM)

Meet Tereza Rodshtein, a chess warrior with the prestigious title of Woman Grandmaster proudly awarded by FIDE. This player doesn't just move pieces; she commands the board like a symphony, turning pawns into legends and bishops into sneaky ninjas.

With a rapid rating that once soared to an astonishing 2582 in February 2021 — that's practically rocket fuel for chess engines — Tereza’s style is a blend of calculated strategy and tactical fireworks. Not one to resign early (only 5.7% of the time), she loves to dance through the endgame, featuring in nearly 79% of her matches, proving that the finale is where the real magic happens.

Tereza's rapid win record is impressively fierce (5 wins out of 6 games), and blitz time controls don’t scare her either — with 68 wins in 106 blitz games, she strikes at a fierce 64% win rate. Bullet? Please, that's just a warm-up: undefeated in that speed demon territory.

Famous for her uncanny comeback ability, Rodshtein bounces back from losing material 86% of the time — talk about resilience! She even boasts a 63% chance of winning after losing a piece. Her longest winning streak? A jaw-dropping 14 games that would make Kasparov nod in approval.

Her opening secret? Well, it's top secret, but it yields an impressive 83% win rate in rapid games and a dependable 64% in blitz. Opponents beware: players like ruslann88 and patriktesko have learned firsthand that losing to Tereza is a 100% certainty (at least in recorded games)!

Tereza likes to keep her cool, with a low tilt factor of just 2, and her favorite time to play is exactly at 3 pm sharp — perhaps that’s when her mental knight gallops fastest. She shines brightest on Tuesdays and at noon – her perfect chess storm timing.

Her games are long, averaging around 73 moves whether she wins or loses, showing she's in for the marathon, not a sprint. White pieces favor her prowess slightly more with a nearly 79% success rate, while black pieces hold a respectable 53%.

Just recently, she showcased her brilliance in a rapid battle against patriktesko on April 17, 2021, where time pressure ruled but Tereza’s skill ultimately triumphed. Whether winning by resignation, time, or checkmate, she knows how to close out games in style.

In summary: Tereza Rodshtein is a formidable player who combines grit, grace, and a dash of secret weapon openings. Whether blitzing through or strategizing in the rapid timezones, she’s a force to be reckoned with on any chessboard — just don’t take too long; she might just win on your clock!

"Chess isn't just a game for Tereza; it's an art form where every piece has a story and every move can be a masterpiece."

Hi Tereza!

Congratulations on consistently keeping your Blitz rating around 2201 (2021-04-17). You clearly have a strong tactical sense and a fighting spirit – most of your recent games were decided long before the clock became critical.

What you are already doing well

  • Opening initiative with 1.f4 and 1.e4. You handle the initiative well, often seizing space with pawn storms (g- and h-pawns) and forcing your opponents to react.
  • Tactical alertness. In your win against patriktesko you spotted …Bxb2 ideas and the pretty 23.Nd7+ in seconds. Here is the critical phase:
  • Clock management. You frequently finish with 30-60 s left while the opponent flags. This is a valuable Blitz skill — keep it! Just be sure it never replaces careful calculation in critical positions.

High-impact areas to improve

  1. Sicilian setups as Black.
In several losses (e.g. vs. Martin Cuhra) you followed a Dragon structure but castled too early and allowed h2-h3-g4-g5 to roll your kingside. • Study model games where Black meets 6.h3 with …h5 or delays …O-O and hits the centre with …d5.
    • Know the key exchange sacrifice ideas on c3 and typical counter-shots like …d6-d5.
  2. Premature queen adventures.
The loss to Pavel Zpěvák started to go wrong after 8…Qb6/9…Nb4. Early queen moves cost tempi and let White develop with gain. As a rule of thumb, avoid queen sorties before minor pieces are active unless there is a concrete tactic.
  3. Endgame technique.
Many wins came by flagging an inferior opponent; aim to convert technically as well. Spend a few sessions on basic rook-endgame drills (Lucena, Philidor,  zugzwang motifs).

Action plan for the next month

  • 15-min opening review three times a week. Build a tidy Dragon/Accelerated Dragon file and one solid alternative (Caro-Kann or French) to vary.
  • 30 tactical puzzles daily, but slow: calculate until you see the full line, then compare.
  • Play one 10 + 5 game every two days and analyse without an engine first. Focus on “Why did I choose this move?” rather than “What does Stockfish say?”.
  • Weekly endgame session: choose 5 rook endgames and play them vs the computer from both sides.

Keep up the good work!

Your creative style is fun to watch and hard to face. Polishing the defensive side of your game will make you a more complete player and push you above the next rating barrier. Good luck!
