Mario Fabulous: The Fabulously Fierce Chess Enthusiast
Meet Mario Fabulous, aka MARIOFABULOUSS, a chess player whose journey through the 64 squares resembles a rollercoaster ride — sometimes smooth, sometimes bumpy, but always entertaining. Starting off strong with a rapid rating peaking at 1200 in 2021, Mario’s rating has fluctuated quite a bit but never lost that fighting spirit. With over 1,800 rapid games played and a win rate dancing just below 50%, Mario proves persistence beats pure perfection.
Blitz chess? Mario gave it a whirl too, achieving a personal best rating of 1327 back in 2018, only to discover blitz can be as wild as a caffeinated squirrel. With a mixed bag of results over thousands of blitz games, Mario remains a formidable opponent who might lose a few pawns but never the enthusiasm.
When it comes to openings, Mario guards the secrets closely—as the stats cheekily label them "Top Secret"—a clue that hints at a penchant for surprise tactics and maybe a dash of mischief. Their longest winning streak is a respectable 9 games, a testament to their ability to focus and seize the moment when the stars align (or the opponent blinks).
Mario’s playing style is a curious blend of patience and bravado. With an average of about 46 moves per win and slightly longer battles in losses, they enjoy the psychological chess dance as much as the checkmate itself. Their comeback rate of over 50% and perfect win rate after losing material show that Mario is not one to throw in the towel early — except maybe 5.5% of the time, when early resignation strikes. Hey, even the fabulous need a breather.
Fun fact: Mario performs best in the early morning hours (especially at 5 AM with a whopping 58.82% win rate) and apparently shines brightest on Wednesdays with nearly 49% wins. Maybe a secret coffee-fueled ritual? With a modest tilt factor of 12, Mario balances passion and poise, proving that every loss is just a prelude to a fabulous comeback.
In face-offs, Mario has a love-hate relationship with frequent opponents, defeating some with 100% win rates (take that, roshan_sandaruwan and todisoasaf!), while struggling against others. This unpredictability is part of Mario’s charm, making every game an adventure filled with surprises and occasional pizza-inspired nicknames.
Ultimately, Mario Fabulous is a player who embodies the joy of chess over the chase for glory. Armed with a resilient mindset, a secret arsenal of openings, and an endgame frequency above 40%, Mario continues to make waves on the chessboard—one fabulous move at a time.
Mario Fabulous – Personal Coaching Feedback
What you’re already doing well
- Playing actively from the very first move; the Bishop’s Opening scores nicely for you when opponents are unprepared.
- Good tactical awareness once the position opens. Your 26.Qxf8# finish against ayuhsquare is a great example of accurate calculation under time pressure.
- You are comfortable entering sharp, double-edged positions and are not afraid to sacrifice material for initiative—a valuable skill at any level.
Top three areas to focus on next
- King safety first
Several losses (e.g. versus lexusupreme and adnankonbour) arose because you delayed castling and pushed your g-pawn too early.- Develop two minor pieces before pushing flank pawns.
- Castle no later than move 10 whenever possible.
- Ask “what squares become weak if I push this pawn?” before committing.
- Piece development versus early queen sorties
3.Qf3 and 4.g4 are fun but often let Black gain tempo with …Nc6-d4/…Nh6-f7. Experiment with the sounder plan 3.Nf3 followed by 4.c3 (or d3) and quick castling.- Faster, safer development.
- Fewer loose pieces targeted by early …d5 or …Nh6.
- Time management
Two recent defeats were on time in still-playable positions. Try a “clock split” rule in 3-minute games:- Opening (moves 1-10): stay above 2 minutes.
- Middlegame (moves 11-25): keep ≥1 minute.
- Endgame: premove only in forced lines.
Opening suggestion: a safer Bishop’s Opening setup
Compare this line with your usual “Qf3 + g4” approach:
You still keep the bishop on c4 but delay Qf3/g4 until after you are castled.
Tactics & pattern training
Your games are tactic-rich. Ten minutes of puzzles (rating 600-900) each day will sharpen your vision and teach when not to sacrifice.

Current peak blitz rating: 1327 (2018-10-25). Let’s aim to break 550 next month!
Next steps
- Play a slow 10|0 game, annotate it and answer the three king-safety questions for every move until you castle.
- Review each loss where you dropped material before move 10; record the exact move that first left a piece en-prise.
- Once comfortable with the new Bishop’s Opening setup, we’ll add a simple plan against 1…c5.
