Mario Fabulous – Personal Coaching Feedback

What you’re already doing well

  • Playing actively from the very first move; the Bishop’s Opening scores nicely for you when opponents are unprepared.
  • Good tactical awareness once the position opens. Your 26.Qxf8# finish against ayuhsquare is a great example of accurate calculation under time pressure.
  • You are comfortable entering sharp, double-edged positions and are not afraid to sacrifice material for initiative—a valuable skill at any level.

Top three areas to focus on next

  1. King safety first
Several losses (e.g. versus lexusupreme and adnankonbour) arose because you delayed castling and pushed your g-pawn too early.
    • Develop two minor pieces before pushing flank pawns.
    • Castle no later than move 10 whenever possible.
    • Ask “what squares become weak if I push this pawn?” before committing.
Challenge: Play 20 games in which you do not move the g-pawn until after you have castled.
  2. Piece development versus early queen sorties
3.Qf3 and 4.g4 are fun but often let Black gain tempo with …Nc6-d4/…Nh6-f7. Experiment with the sounder plan 3.Nf3 followed by 4.c3 (or d3) and quick castling.
    • Faster, safer development.
    • Fewer loose pieces targeted by early …d5 or …Nh6.
    Mini-goal: Study 10 master games starting 1.e4 e5 2.Bc4 Nf6 3.d3 and note how White completes development.
  3. Time management
Two recent defeats were on time in still-playable positions. Try a “clock split” rule in 3-minute games:
    • Opening (moves 1-10): stay above 2 minutes.
    • Middlegame (moves 11-25): keep ≥1 minute.
    • Endgame: premove only in forced lines.
Training idea: play a batch of 5|5 games to practise thinking without severe clock pressure, then return to 3|0.

Opening suggestion: a safer Bishop’s Opening setup

Compare this line with your usual “Qf3 + g4” approach:

You still keep the bishop on c4 but delay Qf3/g4 until after you are castled.

Tactics & pattern training

Your games are tactic-rich. Ten minutes of puzzles (rating 600-900) each day will sharpen your vision and teach when not to sacrifice.

Next steps

  • Play a slow 10|0 game, annotate it and answer the three king-safety questions for every move until you castle.
  • Review each loss where you dropped material before move 10; record the exact move that first left a piece en-prise.
  • Once comfortable with the new Bishop’s Opening setup, we’ll add a simple plan against 1…c5.
