Constructive Feedback for Stefan Miletic

1. Snapshot

2. What you already do well

  • Tactical alertness. In several wins you spotted loose pieces or back-rank weaknesses quickly and finished the game with force. A nice example is the mating net against ax1512:

  • Confidence in sharp positions. You don’t shy away from complications and are willing to sacrifice material for activity.
  • Speed. You generally stay ahead on the clock, which is useful in 10 min live games.

3. Main improvement priorities

  1. Early-queen adventures. Several losses start with …Qe5+, …Qb5 or …Qxb2. When it works you win a pawn; when it fails you lose the queen or fall hopelessly behind in development, e.g. versus 0v3lptatan:

Rule of thumb: avoid moving the queen before move 10 unless it creates a concrete threat you can’t ignore.
  2. King safety & development. In several games both kings stay in the centre while pieces are exchanged. Castle by move 10 in most positions and try not to weaken your own pawn shield with early h4/f6/g5.
  3. Opening discipline. • Pick one reliable line as Black (e.g. Scandinavian 3…Qa5 instead of 3…Qe5+) and one as White (e.g. the London or Colle) and study typical plans for 3–5 moves.
    • Use the first four moves to fight for the centre, develop minor pieces and then think about pawn grabs.
  4. Endgame basics. The loss to maniiii786 shows difficulty converting an extra queen in a pawn race. Spend time on king-and-pawn endings, opposition, and the “Lucena/Philidor” rook endings. (See opposition if unfamiliar.)
  5. Blunder check routine. Before each move ask: “What is my opponent’s last threat? After my move, what can they capture or check?” Thirty seconds of discipline here will save most of the tactical oversights.

4. 14-Day Action Plan

Day(s)FocusPractical task
1 – 3Tactics25 puzzles/day rated around 600–800. Aim for 80 % success.
4 – 6OpeningsBuild a 10-move Scandinavian repertoire (3…Qa5 line). Play vs engine set at 700 elo until you win three games without queen moves before move 7.
7 – 9EndgamesWatch a short video or read a page on basic rook endgames, then set up Lucena & Philidor positions against the computer.
10 – 12Annotated reviewPick two wins & two losses; annotate them yourself first, then compare with engine suggestions at depth 15.
13 – 14Practice setPlay 8 games following your new opening rules. Record whether you castle by move 10 and how often the queen moves early.

5. Quick reference tips

  • Castle early → safer king, rook joins the game.
  • “Three-times” rule → Don’t move the same piece three times in the opening unless it wins material or checkmates.
  • Pawns in front of your king are gold. Think twice before advancing them.

Keep enjoying the game, Stefan, and use your natural tactical flair while adding a layer of positional discipline. Small adjustments will translate into a rapid rating jump. Good luck and see you at the board!
