Snapshot

  • Current strength: around 2472 (2020-12-19) with a sharp, initiative-driven style.
  • Activity pattern: see
    01234567891011121314151617181920212223100%0%Hour of Day
    – strongest late evenings.
  • Typical openings: Trompowsky / London-type set-ups as White, Pirc-/Lion- / Sicilian side-lines as Black.

What already works

  1. Early initiative. Your wins often feature pawn storms (…f5, g4-g5) that put the opponent on the back foot by move 15.
  2. Tactical alertness when attacking. In the miniature against dovijanic you calculated 13…f4! and 22…Qxh2# flawlessly.
  3. Conversion skills when clearly ahead. Once the enemy king is exposed you rarely let the prey escape; most victories end before move 30.

Last decisive loss (Rossolimo – missed central passer)

Main improvement themes

1 · King safety before pawn storms

Losses to Pancontomate12 (…Qxb2#) and MITerryble reveal a tendency to castle long and push g-/h-pawns while b-/c-files remain undefended. Adopt the rule “connect rooks first, storm later”.

2 · Clock management

  • Four of the last seven defeats were on time. Create a 10-move autopilot repertoire so the opening costs <10 seconds.
  • Use a “five-second cut-off”: if calculation stalls, play the safest of your two leading candidates.
  • Practise pre-moving winning endgames (e.g. 57…g2! in the SnailChessYT game) to finish efficiently.

3 · Closed-centre plans

In Lion/Pirc structures you sometimes run out of ideas once the centre locks. Study typical breaks with …c5/…f5 (Black) and c4/f4 (White), knight reroutes (Nd7-f8-g6) and rook lifts (Rf3-h3). Recommended model: Kramnik–Topalov, Linares 1998.

4 · Defensive resilience

Against strong opposition the attack will not always land; you need a “hold & counter” mode. Set up slightly worse positions vs an engine capped at 2500 and try to survive 30 moves. Pay special attention to passed-pawn elimination techniques – 22…Nd4! in the Rossolimo game was the critical resource you missed.

Four-week micro-training plan

WeekFocusConcrete task
1Opening hygieneBuild a 15-move file vs Rossolimo; review 20 flashcards daily.
2Clock controlPlay 10 games 5 | 5; aim to keep >4 s per move until move 15.
3Defence drills50 defensive puzzles with themes “exchange down” & “fortress”.
4Endgame techniquePlay 20 tablebase positions a pawn up vs Stockfish 5.

Glossary boosters

Add these to your study list: overextension, passed pawn, rook lift, fortress.

Final thought

Your attacking flair is a genuine weapon; combine it with steadier structure and stricter time discipline, and breaking the 2500 barrier this season is realistic. Keep the balance between sting and structure – the results will follow!

Good luck and see you at the board!
